Principal's Welcome

Wootton Upper School and Arts College is an academy operated by Wootton Academy Trust. It is one of the top performing schools in Bedfordshire with a reputation for high standards, in both the curriculum and the breadth of the extra-curricular opportunities available to all our students, as evidenced in the recent Ofsted Report on the school.

We talk of a school proud of its community, a community proud of its school’ and the many tangible expressions of this sense of pride and purpose in our daily work. Staff and parents have an important role in ensuring that every student is fully supported and encouraged to achieve their full potential. A range of strong links with local businesses and community groups add new experiences that help our students succeed in many different ways, and high standards of education are reflected in their progress and achievement. The school’s popularity is such that the demand each year significantly exceeds the number of places available.

A Performing Arts Specialist College from 2002, we have the highest expectations of our students across the full curriculum and in the sensitive areas of attendance, behaviour, punctuality and appearance. We are constantly striving to improve and develop further the quality of learning and teaching and the overall facilities available to our students, the great majority of whom continue their education in our Sixth Form Centre.

Our challenge is to move to being outstanding in every respect. We take very seriously our responsibility for every child and the future of the school, as well as the community we serve.
